Graduated from the 1st Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Warsaw in 1984. Specialist in general and oncological surgery, proctologist.
Since 1994, affiliated with the Maria Skłodowska-Curie National Cancer Institute in Warsaw. From the beginning of his professional career, focused on diseases of the colon and rectum — including a placement at the Proctology Sub-unit of the Śródmiejski Hospital (1984–1985). Currently assistant professor at the Clinic of Oncological Surgery and Neuroendocrine Tumours at the National Cancer Institute, Wawelska Street 15. From 1994 to 2010, assistant professor at the Clinic of Colorectal Cancer at the National Cancer Institute, Rentgena Street 5. Completed international fellowships in 1992 (hospital in Bregenz, Austria) and 1995 (St Mark's Hospital, London), and worked as a consultant in general and colorectal surgery at hospitals in the United Kingdom and Sweden in 2005–2007 (Sunderland Royal Hospital) and 2014 (Högland Sjukhuset Eksjö).
The scientific output comprises over 40 publications in Polish and international journals. Member of the following scientific societies: Society of Polish Surgeons (TChP), Video Surgery Section of the TChP, European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), and the Polish Society of Surgical Oncology.
Since July 2020, one of the experts of Lapco Poland — a programme of the Video Surgery Section of the TChP dedicated to promoting and training surgeons in laparoscopic colorectal surgery.
Areas of clinical interest: cancers and other diseases of the colon, including diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and rectal prolapse; gastric and other gastrointestinal cancers, including pancreatic, hepatic, and biliary tract tumours. A separate area of interest is proctology, encompassing a broad range of anal and rectal conditions — treatment of haemorrhoidal disease, fistulas, and anal fissures — as well as rectal cancers and sphincter-preserving operations, including laparoscopic procedures.
