Graduated from the 1st Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Warsaw in 1981. Upon graduating, began working at the Gastroenterology Clinic of the Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education in Warsaw, and at the Oncological Gastroenterology Clinic of the Maria Skłodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology, where he continues to work to this day as Head of the Clinic. Specialist in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Since 2014, has served as National Consultant in the field of gastroenterology. Vice-President of the Polish Society of Gastroenterology, member of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

The scientific output comprises over 200 publications in Polish and international journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine. Serves as director, investigator, promoter, and reviewer of numerous research projects.

Long-standing lecturer and director of educational and specialization courses, and co-organizer of the conferences Warsaw Gastroenterology Meetings, Warsaw Live Endoscopy, and Gastroenterological St. Andrew's Meetings.

Specializes in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, Barrett's oesophagus, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, and peptic ulcer disease, as well as diagnostic and interventional endoscopy.

Coordinator of the Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme.
