Graduate of the Medical University of Warsaw. Specialist in internal medicine and gastroenterology; holds the certificate of Fellow of the European Board of Gastroenterology. Worked periodically (6 years in total) at the University Hospital in Seattle, USA.

Author of numerous clinical and scientific publications in the fields of medicine, molecular biology, and genetics. Recipient of the Scientific Award of the Prime Minister of Poland, the European Dr Bares Award for outstanding publications in gastroenterology, and numerous scientific awards of the Minister of Health.

Physician at the Clinic of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Clinical Oncology of the Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education, and Head of the Department of Genetics at the Maria Skłodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology in Warsaw.

Particular areas of professional interest in gastroenterology include inflammatory bowel diseases, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease, and functional gastrointestinal disorders, including psychosomatic conditions and burning mouth syndrome.
